On February 13, 2025, the Samara Regional Government hosted the award ceremony for the winners and participants of the Samara Interuniversity Competition of Student Research Papers on International Relations, SamInter-2024, which brought together students from universities across the region.
Experts praised the high level of the submitted research papers, which focused on the regional development of external relations between the Samara Region and regions in Latin America and ASEAN countries. Students showed a marked interest in international projects in the aerospace sector, as well as in mechanical engineering.
Dmitry Abramov, Head of the Department of Investment and Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Samara Region, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks. He noted that the development of new international contacts is one of the most important tools for promoting the Samara Region abroad. It allows not only to create a positive image of our region in the eyes of foreign partners and share its innovative experience in various fields, but also to acquire invaluable knowledge and best practices from other countries that can be useful for improving the quality of life of citizens.
Alexey Chupakhin, Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Samara, highly appreciated the students’ interest in working in the field of international relations and expressed hope for further participation in other events dedicated to strengthening contacts between the Samara Region and regions of other partner countries.
Mikhail Leonov, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Youth Policy of Samara University, pointed out that the fresh perspective, creativity, and energy of students allow for a new angle on international relations, propose unconventional solutions, and make a significant contribution to the development of our region.
The winners of the Competition this year were Elmira Enikeeva (Samara State University of Economics, specialty “World Economy and International Relations”, 3rd year) and Sofia Makogon (Samara University, specialty “International Relations”, 2nd year). Elmira chose to study directions for the development of cooperation between JSC “AVTOVAZ” and Latin American countries. Sofia explored the possibilities of expanding international relations between the Samara Region and the Brazilian state of São Paulo.
The prize winners of the Competition were Anastasia Eremina (Samara University, specialty “International Relations”, 2nd year) and Elvira Alieva (Samara State University of Economics, specialty “World Economy and International Relations”, 4th year). Anastasia and Elvira proposed options for developing cooperation with ASEAN countries.
The winners and prizewinners are encouraged with an internship at the Department of Investment and Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Samara Region, as well as gifts from the Department of Investment and Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Samara Region and the E.M. Primakov Regional Center for the Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations.
All participants of the Competition received letters of gratitude and commemorative prizes from the Department of Investment and Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Samara Region.
