The Samara Interuniversity Model of the Russia-CELAC Political Dialogue is part conference, part role‑play. During the event, participants act out how a real summit of CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) works.

Everyone takes on the role of an official representative of a CELAC member country. This gives them a chance to practice skills such as diplomacy, public speaking, leadership, and negotiating, while also improving their language abilities. Moreover, participants get to learn about modern international relations, both in theory and in practice, and see what it’s like to communicate and work with different countries from Latin America and the Caribbean, keeping in mind their unique cultures and histories.

The Model is run according to the rules set in CELAC’s founding documents, including the 2011 Declaration, which highlight the importance of unity, political dialogue, and social integration in the region. The official languages used during the Model are Spanish and Russian.

The main goal of every simulated CELAC summit is to put together a final joint statement with recommendations on how to solve the issue being discussed. To make that happen, all the participants have to agree on the text, following CELAC’s principles of dialogue and respect for each country’s sovereignty.

The Model is open to school students and university students from Samara and other regions of Russia.
