Bonsoir!
Aujourd’hui, October 30, in FranClub, the director of the Alliance Française in Samara, Leo Morot, gave a lecture on the topic: “A brief tour into the world of French cinema”.
The meeting participants were able to plunge into the world of French cinema and French culture for an hour and a half.
Firstly, the students learned where cinema originates and were pleasantly surprised by the fact that it was the French who managed to make the world’s first film, which was created thanks to the brothers Auguste and Louis Lumière. Despite the fact that the picture, entitled “Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat”, lasts only 48 seconds, it still managed to create a sensation, because in 1895, few viewers could have foreseen that a train would suddenly rush out of the screen at them.
Puis, students found out that France was the first country that did not hesitate to film a detailed kissing scene in the film “Le Quai des brumes”, the phrase from which soon became iconic “T’as de beaux yeux, tu sais”.
Ensuite, we remembered the most popular French films in the world, such as “Léon: The Professional”, “The Fifth Element”, “Amélie”, “The Three Musketeers”, “Belle de Jour”, “Contempt” and many, many others.
But even here there were some unexpected discoveries. The students were surprised to find a poster of the cartoon “Arthur and the Minimoys” in the selection of French cinema, which many watched in childhood.
Enfin, this amazing evening ended with a small quiz in which the participants had to remember the names of the movies and the names of the actors, which the students easily coped with!
We would like to sincerely thank Alliance Française Samara for our meeting and personally Leo Morot for such an interesting lecture!
Au revoir! See you soon in the FranClub !
