The Discussion Club discussed the relevant topic “US troop withdrawal from the Middle East: a step towards peace or a new challenge?”.
During the discussion, the participants discussed the following issues:
- History, causes and consequences of the US troop withdrawal from the Middle East;
- The impact of the withdrawal on regional security and stability;
- Prospects for conflict resolution in the region.
The participants noted that the withdrawal of US troops from the Middle East is a complex and ambiguous process that could have both positive and negative consequences. On the one hand, the troop withdrawal can help to reduce tensions and create conditions for peaceful conflict resolution. On the other hand, it can lead to increased instability and the growing influence of extremist groups.
It is gratifying to note that new participants took part in the discussion, which is evidence of the growing interest in the activities of the Discussion Club and the topics under discussion!
We are sure that the discussion was productive and attracted keen interest among the participants!
Special thanks should be expressed to our excellent experts: Alexander Borisovich Okun, associate professor of the department of General History, International Relations and Documentary Studies, and Albert Novikov, a 2nd-year student of the Master’s degree program “Analysis and Expert Commentary on International Processes” at RSUH, who gave excellent presentations and made a valuable contribution to the discussion!
We look forward to seeing everyone at upcoming club meetings!
