From April 22 to 26, third-year students of the International Relations program of Samara University, Gunel Aliyeva and Anastasia Masharova, undertook an internship at the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
This opportunity has opened up for future specialists in the field of international relations due to the Regional Centre for the Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Yevgeniy M. Primakov.
The Institute of China and Modern Asia of the RAS was established in September 1966 by a decree of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Until 2022, the Institute was called the «Institute of the Far East of the RAS», but was renamed in connection with new objectives set by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The main task of the Institute is a complex study of modern politics, business, social and cultural processes in the modern Asia countries — especially China, but also Japan, Korea, ASEAN countries and Central Asia republics.

Gunel and Anastasia completed their internship at the Center for World Politics and Strategic Analysis of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the RAS.
During the internship, the students were given an excursion of the ICSA RAS building, they visited a Vietnamese center, as well as the hall of the Russian-Chinese friendship Society. Anastasia and Gunel signed up for the Sinological Library of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the RAS, where they were able to choose literature and sources for their term papers and diploma theses.
Gunel and Anastasia were invited to the meeting of the Chinese Culture Studies Centre, where they were able to take part in a discussion on modern cultural studies. After the meeting, the students informally reflected on their theses with experts and received some recommendations on how to write them.
