From April 22 to 25, third-year student of the Samara National Research University named after Academician S.P. Korolev, majoring in International Relations — Angelina Movsisyan — completed an internship at the African Studies Department of the Institute of Asian and African Countries of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
This opportunity has opened up for future specialists in the field of international relations due to the support of the Regional Centre for the Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Yevgeniy M. Primakov.
Africa is a part of the student’s scientific interests and profile of future scientific work.
During her internship, Angelina attended a lecture given by Alexander Stepanovich Balezin “About some of the pain points of Russian historical Africanism”, which was held as part of the African Studies Club. At the lecture, Alexander Stepanovich spoke about his research experience of Africa and answered students’ questions.
Angelina Movsisyan about her internship: “This internship gave me an opportunity to get familiar with people who are sincerely interested in researching Africa. I learned many new things about history, languages and culture of different countries, talked to senior students, and was surprised that while still studying at the university, these folks already knew their specialty very well. I also heard many stories about people who dedicated their lives to exploring this continent. Undoubtedly, after listening to stories about their adventures, I can’t wait to go on an expedition myself. I hope I will have such an opportunity in the future!”
