On March 13, 2024, the Samara Interuniversity Olympiad on Diplomatic Protocol and Etiquette “SamDiP-2024” took place at the E.M. Primakov Center. During this event, students had the opportunity to feel like real specialists engaged in the preparation of diplomatic visits at a high level.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council on International Affairs, Farit Mubarakshovich Mukhametshin, greeted the participants of the Olympiad, emphasizing the importance of such events for enhancing students’ knowledge levels in history and modern diplomacy. He highlighted that the skills acquired during the Olympiad would be beneficial to future specialists working in visit preparation at various levels. A book on diplomatic ceremonial and protocol was presented to the E.M. Primakov Center by Farit Mubarakshovich.
Dmitry Starostin, Head of the Information Department of the State Protocol Department at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the participants:
Every diplomat is undoubtedly a protocol officer. You represent our country wherever you are. Love what you do, respect your teachers. Aim for new heights!
Participants’ knowledge and abilities to understand different cases related to organizing diplomatic visits and ordinary work meetings between representatives of different cultures were evaluated by a highly qualified jury led by the Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Samara, Alexey Chupakhin.
At the end of the Olympiad, each team had to present a creative task, showcasing a historical diplomatic protocol error situation.
Results of the Olympiad:
- The team “Peace Mediators” (3rd-year International Relations students from Samara University: Dmitry Belov, Karina Kuzmina, Victoria Noskova, Daria Sokolova, Alina Khairullina) became the winners!
- In the category of “Most Active Participant,” Gunel Alieva, a 3rd-year International Relations student from Samara University, emerged victorious!
- The team “Knowledge Ambassadors” (3rd-year International Relations students from Samara University: Gunel Alieva, Valery Yakovlev, 3rd-year Sociology student from Samara University: Tonakash Ussumane Balde, 9th-grade student from Yaktylyk School: Camila Gazizova, 10th-grade students from Yaktylyk School: Safiya Mingaleeva and Baytur Kudu) took the second place!
- The team “Dip Educators” (3rd-year students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at SGSPU: Anastasia Tenigina, Alena Kalinkina, Ekaterina Tsyganova, 2nd-year student from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at SGSPU: Elena Karyakina, 1st-year student from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at SGSPU: Chingiz Uvaliev) grabbed the third place!
