The Primakov Centre hosted I Samara Interuniversity Olympiad on Diplomatic protocol and Etiquette “SamDiP-2023”

On April 4, 2023, the Primakov Center hosted I Interuniversity Olympiad on Diplomatic protocol and Etiquette “SamDiP-2023”. Within this event, students were able to feel like real specialists who are engaged in the preparation of diplomatic visits at a high level.

The knowledge and skills of the participants to understand various cases on the organization of visits, as well as ordinary working meetings between businessmen, were evaluated by a highly qualified jury consisting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Samara and teachers of the Department of General History, International Relations and Documentation of Samara University. It is worth noting that at the end of the Olympiad, each team had to present a project, within which it was necessary to analyze the features of the national protocol.

So, we learned a lot about the etiquette of Russia, China, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, Iran, Turkey and South Korea.

Moreover, they were even able to figure it out:

– why did such a harmless flower as “poppy” sow the seed of discord between the UK and China in 2010

– What did the extended “uh-uh…” of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen mean at the talks with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and Turkish leader Recep Erdogan.

According to the results of the Olympiad, the “Sa” team became the winner!

In the nomination “The most active participant” the winner was Sarkis Shahazizyan!

We congratulate everyone and wish them further success in studying the intricacies of the diplomatic protocol service!

See you soon!
