On March 20, a meeting was held at the SinoClub at the Primakov Centre, which was dedicated to Maslenitsa.
Our coordinators Lina Wang and Anastasia Tolstikova made a report, where they told the club participants about the main traditions and customs of celebrating Maslenitsa in Russia.
Thus, the attendees learnt that Maslenitsa is celebrated for 7 days, from Monday to Sunday. And each day of the Maslenitsa week has its own name and is filled with a unique meaning.
Then the participants of the club played various games: they listed 7 items that are somehow connected with the holiday, drew Maslenitsa, came up with fillings for pancakes and guessed them, braided a maiden’s braid from ribbons for speed.
But it was also not do without the main character of the celebration – the Maslenitsa effigy. The participants took part in a masterclass on making a floss woman from Sofia Makogon!
At the end of the meeting, SinoClub participants were greeted with delicious sweets over a cup of tea and coffee.
