IV Week of Russian Diplomacy. Day 2
On April 11, 2023, Ilya I. Rogachev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Africa and concurrently to the Kingdom of Lesotho, began thematic speeches. In his speech, Ilya I. Rogachev, quoting the statement of the African ethical doctrine of Ubuntu: “I exist because you exist,” noted the high commitment of the BRICS member countries to joint activities.
IV Week of Russian Diplomacy. Day 1
Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Farit M. Mukhametshin addressed the participants of the Week of Diplomacy with a welcoming speech. In his speech, Farit M. Mukhametshin expressed confidence that the implementation of such educational projects allows students to get acquainted with the activities of current political figures in practice. In his welcoming speech, Pavel R. Knyazev, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russia’s Representative in BRICS, and Dmitry V. Polikanov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, PhD in Political Sciences. They focused attention not only on the high rates of BRICS development, but also on the special commitment of states to traditional values.

Opening the event, Farit Mukhametshin noted that holding the Week of Russian Diplomacy at Samara University has become a good tradition: “Russia acts as one of the sovereign centers of world development and carries out the mission to maintain the global balance of power in a multipolar world. The Federation Council attaches great importance to cooperation with the BRICS countries. On the agenda the issue of strengthening trade and economic relations with the countries of this bloc”.

Those who are not physically present here joined online. “The Week of Russian Diplomacy” started for the fourth time in the Regional Centre for Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Yevgeniy M. Primakov.

This year it is dedicated to the prospects of the BRICS development in global governance, as well as to the issues of interstate cooperation in the framework of trade and economic relations. It should be reminded that in 2024 Russia will lead the BRICS interstate association, and the central events will be held in the Volga Federal District – in Kazan.

The Primakov Centre hosted I Samara Interuniversity Olympiad on Diplomatic protocol and Etiquette “SamDiP-2023”
The knowledge and skills of the participants to understand various cases on the organization of visits, as well as ordinary working meetings between businessmen, were evaluated by a highly qualified jury consisting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Samara and teachers of the Department of General History, International Relations and Documentation of Samara University. It is worth noting that at the end of the Olympiad, each team had to present a project, within which it was necessary to analyze the features of the national protocol.
