The Samara Interuniversity Model of the SCO

On December 23, 2021, a business game “SCO Model” was held at the Regional Centre for the Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Yevgeniy M. Primakov  (Samara, Akademika Pavlova str., 1, Building 22b, L-11). The event was organized by the Unitis.

The SCO model is a synthesis of a scientific conference and a role–playing game, during which participants reproduce the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This year, the theme of the game was countering international terrorism.

The conference participants are representatives of the SCO member states, including India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran, as well as observer states at the SCO. Their main task was to present the position of a country or an international organization defined within thе SCO Model on the issue on today’s. Following the meeting, a resolution was adopted with recommendations on solving the problem of international terrorism.

On the part of the honored guests the delegates were welcomed by the head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Samara Alexey V. Chupakhin and the Head of the Interregional Cooperation Department of the Department of External Relations of the Samara Region Sergey V. Zakharov.  Sergey V. Zakharov noted that interregional cooperation with partners from the SCO countries was a key direction for the Samara region. The prorector for Educational Work of Samara University Mikhail M. Leonov made a welcoming speech, who reiterated that “the reproduction of the mechanism of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization within the SCO Model gives importance to its activities and opens up huge possibility for the participants of the event.”

After the game, the participants and organizers were marked and awarded the “Best delegate”, which was a 3rd–year student of the specialty “International Relations” of Samara University Roman Senchev, the “Best speaker” – a 4th-year student of the SSEU Law Institute Nvard Ohanyan, also the jury added an additional nomination “The best delegation according to the participants”. With an open vote, the delegation of the Russian Federation was recognized as the winner in this nomination.
