On October 31, the Primakov Centre hosted a meeting of Samara University students with representatives of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The honorary guests of the Center were Alexander Rabotkevich, Director of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Anna Soloveichikova, Deputy Director, and Olga Selivanova Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the Group for the Acquisition of Personal Funds of Scientists and their Scientific Description.
Within the framework of this meeting, the head of the Group of acquisition of personal funds of scientists and their scientific description, Candidate of Historical Sciences Olga Selivanova gave a lecture on the history of the formation of Russian cosmonautics. It was about documents related to the history of cosmonautics, which are stored in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, including drawings, biographical letters, service records, official letters, autobiographies of famous people who have made a significant contribution to the development of Russian cosmonautics.
During the report, the personal funds of famous Soviet scientists such as K.E. Tsiolkovsky, F.A. Tsander, N.A. Rynin, S.P. Korolev, M.S. Keldysh, V.P. Mishin, V.A. Kotelnikov, V.F. Utkin and many others were examined. Special attention was paid to the Sergei Pavlovich Korolev Foundation, whose archive contains letters from his mother, photographs, and important documents related to his life and scientific activities.
After the lecture, students were able to communicate with representatives of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences and ask all their questions, which formed a broad idea of the rich history of Russian cosmonautics and valuable documents stored in the funds. The study of these archives allows us to better understand the course of many historical events
