On September 22, 2023, a meeting was held between Samara University students and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic, Mr. Eduardo Antonio Zuain, at the Central City Library named after. N.K. Krupskaya. This meeting was organized by the Regional Center for the Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after E.M. Primakov and the Department of External Relations of the Administration of the Governor of the Samara Region. During the meeting, issues of cooperation between Argentina and Russia, both in general at the state level, and with the Samara region in particular, were discussed. We were able to talk about the history of interaction between our countries and development prospects.
According to Mr. Ambassador, the main job of a diplomat at present is to establish contacts between people of different countries, and this work is becoming more and more difficult every day. He noted that young people today have a more delicate vision of the situation, which contributes to the gentle resolution of conflicts and controversial issues.
As Mr. Zuain emphasized, Russia and Argentina are two friendly countries, despite the considerable distance, they have a rich history of cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural fields. The main task of interaction between Russia and Argentina at present is an even greater unification of our countries.
Mr. Ambassador supported the initiative of students to create an Ibero-American cultural club at Samara University, which will allow Samara students to communicate with students from Latin American countries, as well as establish contacts with universities in Argentina to exchange experiences.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Zuain gave parting words to the future diplomats, but still students:
“Now there are a lot of opportunities for development after university – to become a diplomat, to develop connections in your city or country. I would like you to become diplomats in order to participate in solving current problems; this is precisely the principle that Argentina adheres to, and we are confident that through joint efforts we will be able to achieve more.”
