On June 10, Vitaly Roschupkin, the head of the Regional Centre of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Evgeniy M. Primakov, and Daria Gul, the director of the Turkish language centre “TAMAM”, a teacher of TurkishClub at Samara University in International Relations department, organized a meeting with Ivan Starodubtsev, a Turkicologist, analyst, expert on Turkey, consultant of the Middle East Institute, with the 2nd year students of Samara University in International Relations.
Ivan Igorevich told the students about his path in the field of international relations, what you need to know while doing business with Turks, about the main promising areas of Russian-Turkish relations. There were a lot of questions, the meeting was very informative in a relaxed atmosphere.
Then the students had an opportunity to communicate with Mr. Bekir – Head of the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage of Ankara Municipality (Turkey). He told about his work in Turkey in the field of cultural heritage preservation, answered the students’ questions, he was interested in their cross-cultural communication plans.
This meeting was a powerful educational stimulus for the students. To communicate with practicing specialists in the field of international relations live, unofficially, is a rare valuable gift of fate. We are grateful to Anna Soloveichikova, Deputy Director of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), for making this meeting possible. It was she who introduced us to Ivan Igorevich.
Special thanks to the Post Museum, located in the House named after Merchant Ivanov above the retro-post office and its head Ekaterina V. Guseva for the opportunity to gather in an atmospheric place, to listen to a very interesting story about the history of the Russian post, to get acquainted with the details of the restoration of the old mansion and even to send memorable postcards by mail!
Ivan Igorevich shared his impressions in his Telegram-channel:
“I am sincerely grateful to the Government of Samara and the Union of Architects of Russia for the invitation to visit Samara and speak at the 6th All-Russian Festival “Architectural Heritage”. There we performed a dual performance with the Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage of Ankara, Bekir Odemis.
But I would like to say special words to Vitaly Roschupkin, head of the Regional Centre of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Evgeniy M. Primakov, and Daria Gul, director of the Turkish language center “TAMAM”, teacher of TurkishClub at Samara University in the field of International Relations.
It was they who organized the meeting with their students, which, frankly speaking, was really “high” – there was so much sincere interest in Turkey, in Russian-Turkish relations, and in my experience on the part of the audience, and this could not be but reflected in how beautifully everything went in the end”.
