In Moscow on May 16 an agreement on cooperation in research and education was signed between the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Samara State Aerospace University named after academician Sergey P. Korolev. The document was signed by Rector of MGIMO Anatoly V. Torkunov and Rector of Samara National Research University Vladimir D. Bogatyrev.
– Signing an agreement with Russia’s leading university in international relations is extremely important for Samara University. The university trains international students within the International Relations and Foreign Policy program, and we are interested in adopting the rich experience and best international practices of MGIMO in this area. We have a mutual desire to systematically develop scientific collaborations, to increase the efficiency of cooperation in research and educational spheres, providing support for joint scientific projects, based on common interests of science development, – said Vladimir D. Bogatyrev.
The rectors also discussed the possibility of opening network programs, organizing internships for students, teachers and scientists of Samara University at MGIMO, implementing joint research projects, holding conferences and preparing scientific publications on the topic of space law.
As part of the agreement, the parties have developed a list of activities that includes regular participation of MGIMO specialists in events of the regional center for the development of public diplomacy and international relations named after Evgeniy M. Primakov at Samara University – for example, in the annual Week of Russian Diplomacy, the regional Model UN and the SCO Model, work in clubs and participation in discussion platforms.
In particular, from May 15 to 19, Samara University is hosting “ASEAN Week”. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations includes 10 of the most dynamically developing economies, the most colorful and ancient cultures of the world. “ASEAN Week” is organized by the ASEAN Center of MGIMO together with the Primakov Center.
Head of the ASEAN Center of MGIMO, Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies Ekaterina Koldunova and the Center’s experts Nikita S. Kuklin and Valeria V. Vershinina came to Samara region to hold “ASEAN Week”. The experts gave lectures to university students on protocol, etiquette and business communication with Southeast Asian countries.
Today the work of the ASEAN Inter-University Model started, which was attended by more than 60 delegates from Samara University and other universities in the region. On May 19 there will be a presentation of the ASEAN Center youth projects and educational quiz. To prepare for the ASEAN Model, the ASEAN Center experts held an online lecture-consultation.
During their visit to Samara region, members of the ASEAN Center delegation held working meetings with Vice-Rectors of Samara University Mikhail M. Leonov and Victoria V. Bolgova. During the meetings they discussed the directions of further cooperation between the ASEAN Center and the E.M. Primakov Regional Center for the Development of Public Diplomacy of International Relations named after Evgeniy M. Primakov.
