On April 13, 2023, the 4th day of the “IV Week of Russian Diplomacy” ended.

Today’s topic speeches were started by the Scientific Secretary of the Institute of the USA and Canada named after Academician G.A. Arbatov RAS Ph.D. in Political Sciences Andrey S. Evseenko. In his report, he emphasized that the tense relations of individual countries with the West do not affect the unification of the BRICS, because “the priority is to maintain the status quo”. For example, even in the context of the Sino-American confrontation, trade between countries is not declining.

“The BRICS members are not aimed at breaking off relations with the West,” Andrey S. Evseenko noted.

Consequently, this contributes to the expansion of cooperation not only in the economic, but also in the educational sphere. The coordinator of the Project Office for International Youth Cooperation “Russia – BRICS” Kira I. Ivanova shared her rich experience in holding youth events aimed at communication between representatives of the BRICS countries. Special attention of our students was attracted by the BRICS “YouthCamp” program, which is scheduled for August this year.

Vladimir G. Shubin, Chief Researcher of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of History, Professor, Honorary Doctor of the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), made the final report today. He emphasized the specifics of building a dialogue between Russia and African countries.

“Russia is ready to cooperate with African countries, regardless of their domestic political realities. Russia is conducting a dialogue with Africa on an equal footing, without diktat and pressure, which compares favorably with our Western “partners,” Vladimir G. Shubin said.
