On 6-7 December 2024 the Faculty of History hosted the anniversary ‘XXX All-Russian Platonov Readings’ dedicated to the memory of Academician Sergey Fedorovich Platonov (1860-1933). The Youth Forum has been organised since 1996 on the initiative of the Department of Russian History. The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Conference is P.S. Kabytov, Honoured Worker of Science of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Science, Professor, Honorary Professor of Samara University, Head of the Department of Russian History, Honorary Citizen of the Samara Region.

The 30th Platonov Readings were attended by more than 70 students, postgraduates, applicants and young scientists from 14 cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Perm, Orenburg, Samara, Kazan, Saratov, Togliatti, Yekaterinburg, Ulyanovsk, Penza, Ufa and Irkutsk.

The participants represented 22 higher educational institutions in Russia: Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Patrice Lumumba Peoples ‘ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), Higher School of Economics (HSE), State Academic University for the Humanities (SAUGN), Saint Petersburg State University( SPbU), European University in Saint Petersburg (EUSPb), Kazan State University Federal University (KFU), Kazan State Medical University (KSMU), Orenburg State Pedagogical University (OGPU), Saratov National Research University named after N. G. Chernyshevsky, Perm State National Research University (PGNIU), Southern Federal University (SFU), Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin Ulyanov State Pedagogical University named after I. N. Yushchenko , Ulyanov State Pedagogical University named after I. N. Yushchenko. Ulyanov, Penza State University (PSU), Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Irkutsk State University, Tolyatti State University, Moscow City Pedagogical University (Samara branch), Samara State Socio-Pedagogical University, Samara State Institute of Culture, Samara National Research University named after Academician S. P. Korolev.

The first Vice – rector-Vice-rector for Research of Samara University A. B. Prokofiev and the Vice-rector for educational work and Youth Policy of Samara University M. M. Leonov delivered welcoming speeches at the opening ceremony.

Honorary guests of the conference were Head of the Department of Russian History, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Orenburg State Pedagogical University S. V. Lyubichankovsky and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Orenburg State Pedagogical University E. V. Godovova.

The participants’ reports were divided into 5 thematic sections, 1 online section, and a poster presentation section.

The first places in the sections were taken by:

Section III “History of public and historical thought, political parties, social movements and organizations”

  • Master’s student of Moscow State University Yermosova U. E., report: “I am a martyr” as a self-presentation of political prisoners (1870s-1907)”.

Section IV “History of Russian Culture and everyday life”

  • Master’s student of the Higher School of Economics (Moscow) Parshina Ya. A., report: “With a socialist greeting”: joint film production of the USSR and socialist countries (1956-1962)”.

Section V ” History of Russia in the XX century: problems, search for solutions”

  • student of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University Mukhin V. I., report: “N. N. Tikhanovich-Savitsky’s telegrams to Nicholas II and ministers in September 1915 as a call for counter-revolution”.

Online Section – student of Penza State University Soldatenkova V. V., report: “Administration of conscription in the Penza province on the basis of the recruitment charter of 1831”.

The College of Professors selected Evgeny Khanzhin, a candidate of the Department of Russian History of the Orenburg State Pedagogical University, as the winner of the XXX All-Russian Platonic Readings.

As part of the XXX anniversary Platonov Readings, participants and teachers of the Faculty of History laid flowers at the memorial sign to Academician S. F. Platonov, installed on the territory of the former All-Holy Cemetery in the Shchors Park.
