From 5 to 7 December 2024 in Samara University named after Korolev there was held an All-Russian scientific conference ‘Theory and practice of forms of inter-genre synthesis, interaction and mutual reception of literary and art phenomena’, timed to the 55th anniversary of the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature and Public Relations.

The conference in a mixed form was attended by representatives of leading universities of Samara and Russia (participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Rostov, Perm, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, etc.), as well as from Belarus and China. During the three days of the conference about 70 reports were delivered in six section-sessions in the walls of Samara University and a methodological panel was held at the Nayanova Academy for Gifted Children.

Alexander Yurievich Nesterov, Director of the Social and Humanitarian Institute, opened the conference with a welcoming speech and wished the Chair development and discoveries. Professor Sergey Alexeyevich Golubkov, who headed the department for 20 years, delved into the history of the team and the scientific directions that colleagues developed and covered in their works. He recalled the cycles of scientific events and conferences that the department has organised and continues to organise, such as the conferences ‘Codes of Russian Classics’, ‘Literature – Theatre – Cinema’, “Modern” as a problem in the history of literature and culture” and others, work on monographic studies on the theory of the novel and authenticity of artistic expression, boundary problems, theory of the author, theory and history of folklore, history of the Russian avant-garde, poetics of the Russian classics and Russian prose of the 20s of the 20th century, Russian drama and prose of the 20th century.

The reports of the conference participants were devoted to the problems of inter-genre synthesis in literature and the problems of reception. The processes of inter-genre and style synthesis in literature of the XX-XXI centuries, interaction of lyric and epic in drama, novelisation of literary genres, issues of interpretation and analysis of literary text were discussed, many participants paid attention to the problems of mutual reception of arts (literature/theatre, literature/movie, literature/fine arts).

Students from the Academy for Gifted Children (Nayanova) took part in the Methodological Panel held as part of the conference on 7 December. They, together with Doctor of Philosophy A.Yu. Nesterov, Doctor of Philological Sciences L.G. Tyutelova, Doctor of Sociological Sciences A.S. Gotlib and Candidate of Philological Sciences I.I. Kogan were able to consider the problems of prose text interpretation from the position of different humanities and research approaches.

During the conference there were many congratulations to the chair and wishes for the continuation of scientific cooperation from philologists from different scientific centres of the country. Its graduates, many of whom work in universities of Samara and the country, shared their memories of different periods of the department’s activity.
