Fourth-year students of the “International Relations” program at Samara University, Elnura Garaeva and Polina Yudaeva, completed an internship at the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, organized by the E.M. Primakov Centre.
During the internship, the students had the opportunity to participate in various events. On April 16, 2025, a seminar on tax regulation for major Chinese companies operating in Russia was held at the Metropol Hotel. Attending this seminar allowed them not only to learn about the latest changes in Russian tax legislation but also to engage in unique conversations with representatives of Chinese businesses and Russian experts in international taxation, as well as to establish their first professional contacts.
In 2025, Russia and China jointly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the great Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and the victorious end of World War II. In this regard, on April 23, 2025, the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow hosted the opening ceremony of the Russian-Chinese photo exhibition “No One is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten,” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
Speakers at the photo exhibition opening included Feng Litao – Counselor-Minister of the Embassy of the PRC in Russia and Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Moscow; G.V. Kulikova – First Deputy Chairperson of the Society for Russian-Chinese Friendship; Yu Jia – Deputy Chief Editor of the Broadcasting Center for Europe and Asia of the PRC State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television; Zhou Shenko – Chief Editor of Shandong Radio and Television Corporation.
The speakers emphasized the tremendous role of Russia (USSR) and China in the fight and mutual support during the world war against fascism, as well as the deep friendship and firm resolve of both countries to defend the international system based on the UN and the outcomes of Victory in World War II. The students from Samara University were not only able to participate in the photo exhibition but also had the opportunity to converse with Galina Veniaminovna Kulikova, practice their spoken Chinese and English with foreign guests at the event, and take memorable photos.
Polina Yudaeva on her internship at the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia RAS: «I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia RAS for the opportunity to participate in significant events that became valuable experience for my research work. The seminar on tax regulation for Chinese companies in Russia, as well as the photo exhibition ‘Unforgettable Memory,’ were not just additions to the theoretical base but a living example of how science, history, and the practice of international cooperation intertwine. This is invaluable experience that will help me in my future diploma work and scientific activity.»
