The Carnival Palette of Iberoamerica: What it was like!
The participants of the Primakov Centre’s IberAClub plunged into the world of colourful carnivals from Spain to Brazil to rousing rhythms.
We talked about the history of carnivals: from pagan traditions to modern interpretations of this colourful phenomenon.
We simulated a meeting of Francisco Franco’s council, where we offered arguments of opponents and supporters of the prohibition of carnivals in Spain during the dictatorship.
We presented ‘guides’ to some carnivals and drew parallels with similar festivities of different nations of the world.
And at the end they shared their own opinions about what they had heard over a cup of tea with a traditional Spanish dessert.
