On the 20th of March 2025, an evening of poetry dedicated to the Day of the French Language was held in the Museum of Modernity with the assistance of the Alliance Française. As part of the event, participants presented their favourite works of poets from French-speaking countries. French poetry, represented by masters of pen of different epochs and directions, made a significant contribution to the world treasury of literature. Poets sought to find answers to eternal philosophical questions such as love, friendship, honour and the meaning of life. Speeches by native French speakers were especially appreciated by the audience.

Members of our FranClub, Angelina Movsisyan and Denis Zhidkov, performed selected poems by outstanding poets of France. They included the poem ‘Sentimental Conversation’ by Paul Verlaine, one of the founders of French literary impressionism, and ‘Albatross’ by Charles Baudelaire, a famous symbolist poet. These works, written in the 19th century, are significant examples of French poetry, imbued with deep feelings and reflections on human life.
