On April 7, 2021, the Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus Maria Sofokleous Olimbiou visited Samara University.

During the visit, the Consul General held a meeting with the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Samara A.V. Chupakhin, Vice-Rector for Educational Work M.M. Leonov, and Director of the Primakov Centre (hereinafter referred to as the Centre) V.G. Roshchupkin. The meeting discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in education and science, as well as the development of public diplomacy at the interregional level.

After touring the Centre, Maria Sofokleous Olimbiou met with faculty members and international relations students from the History Department. She spoke about the history of relations between the two countries, the specifics of diplomatic service, and the work of the Consulate General of the Republic of Cyprus in Samara.

The working visit resulted in agreements on further cooperation between Samara University and the Consulate General of the Republic of Cyprus in Samara to develop the university’s scientific and educational ties with the Republic of Cyprus.
