On November 16, 2024, Samara University hosted the anniversary edition of the International Educational Campaign “Geographical Dictation” at the M.E. Primakov Regional Center for Public Diplomacy and International Relations of Samara University. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the “Geographical Dictation.” The campaign aims to popularize geographical knowledge and increase interest in science and national heritage.
The campaign was opened by Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Youth Policy M.M. Leonov. Participants were welcomed by: Head of the Department of Russian History, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor P.S. Kabytov, Associate Professor of the Department of National History and Historiography of Samara University M.S. Chirkov, and Director of the Interuniversity Humanitarian Museum Center I.A. During the International Educational Campaign “Geographical Dictation,” students learned about the activities of the Russian Geographical Society, participated in a geographical quiz, and answered questions from the Geographical Dictation. The students expressed their interest in the event and thanked the organizers for the opportunity to participate in the educational campaign.
It is possible to join the International Educational Campaign “Geographical Dictation” until December 1, 2024. The dictation can be taken online. An “extraversion” of the dictation is available on the website — it will open on November 17 at 2:00 PM and will be available until December 1 at 2:00 PM Moscow time. The results will be known immediately after completion.
For the first time, a prize draw will be held among participants who wrote the dictation in person on December 25. The draw will be conducted using the identification number on the dictation form. Three winners will go on a trip around Russia. And one lucky winner will participate in an RGS expedition. To do this, it is necessary to fill out an application on the official website of the dictation from November 19 to December 23, 2024, and enter the identification number from the in-person round of the dictation.
