On the 64th anniversary of Aviation and Cosmonautics Day, the II Online Marathon “Russian Space: Past, Present, Future” took place, organized by the Public Chamber of the Samara Region and the Samara National Research University named after Academician S.P. Korolev, with the support of the Youth Affairs Commission of the World Coordinating Council of Compatriots Living Abroad. The event was hosted by employees of the E.M. Primakov Centre – Guzaliya Shakurova and Yana Vidiaskina.

Opening the event, the chair of the Public Chamber, president of Samara University, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, doctor of technical sciences, professor, and honored scientist of the Russian Federation, Viktor Alexandrovich Soifer, noted that Samara rightfully bears the proud title of “space capital” of Russia. It is symbolic that this event, uniting youth from different corners of the world, is taking place in Samara. Indeed, as stated in his video address by Hero of the Russian Federation, cosmonaut Oleg Hermanovich Artemyev: “Space is a place that should unite people, regardless of age, religion, worldview, or political interests.”

“There can be no struggle in space, only joint development forward,” said Mikhail Mikhailovich Leonov, Vice-Rector for Students Affairs and Youth Policy.

The Minister of Youth Policy of the Samara Region, Natalia Vyacheslavovna Rogova, wished the participants productive work.

In a video address to the participants, the director of the Competence Center for Digital Economy, member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for Digital Economy, Nadezhda Yuryevna Surova, as well as the chairman of the Expert Council of the Competence Center “Smart City” of the Ministry of Construction of Russia, Anatoly Anatolyevich Kurmanov, also spoke.

Participants included school students from the Samara region, students from Samara University, and representatives from various countries. It’s worth noting that the International Friendship Club is actively working on the development of international youth cooperation, led by Ivan Gennadievich Kistanov, who discussed upcoming projects.

Participants learned a lot of new and interesting information about the development of astronautics from the lecture by Ilya Fimovich Leykovsky, head of the interactive complex for advanced training of engineering personnel based on modern digital technologies, titled “Immersive Technologies in Engine Building.”

There was an opportunity to communicate with Roman Vasilyevich Skidanov, leading researcher at the Research Laboratory of Automated Scientific Research Systems at Samara University.

In addition, participants took part in a flash mob titled “Spaceship of the Future by AI.”
