Аннотация

The Topkapi Palace was built in
1460-1478 upon the orders of Sultan
Mehmed II, the conqueror of Istanbul, and
was expanded and altered throughout its
long history. Until the mid 19th century,
this palace served both as the residence
of the Ottoman sultans and as the centre
from which the state was governed and
where its dignitaries were trained.
